It appears a family of mockingbirds have selected Triangle Park as their nesting place of choice. From what we observed at the July 15 Weeding and Watering Hole Happy Hour event, a mother, father, and three chicks are making themselves at home in the tree on the Passyunk Ave. side of the park. See below for pictures. To see the nest for yourself, join us for upcoming Weeding and Watering Hole Happy Hour events on Thursday's from 6:00-7:30 p.m. For more info, e-mail info@friendsoftrianglepark.org.

'Weeding & Watering Hole Happy Hour' at Triangle Park
Join the Friends of Triangle Park every Thur. evening from 6:30-8:00 for a weekly weeding and watering session followed by a little Happy Hour action. The park is really looking great these days, but like any garden, it needs a steady stream of TLC. So, in an effort to get more folks from the neighborhood out to enjoy the park and help with upkeep, we launched our "Weeding & Watering Hold Happy Hour" event in June, and it has been a great success. We get a little work done, we have a drink, and we meet some really great people. If you have time on an upcoming Thursday evening, please come out to the park and join the fun. Bring the kids too ... we'll have juice boxes and snacks for the little ones. For more info, e-mail info@friendsoftrianglepark.org.

CITY YEAR Joins the Effort at Triangle Park
City Year's Young Heroes joined the Friends of Triangle Park for a garden-tending event on May 1. The park needed some weeding, watering, and light cleanup assistance, and the Young Heroes were more than up to the task. We worked from 10 a.m. until noon-ish, and when all was said and done, the park was looking super good. Thanks to all of the Young Heroes and their team leaders, who showed up on a hot Saturday morning to provide some much-needed assistance. ______________________________________________________
FOTP's 2010 Spring Kickoff Event, A Huge Success!!!

The Friends of Triangle Park hosted a spring kickoff event on April 10th, and by all accounts, it was a huge success. The park is looking so good!!! Thanks to all of the volunteers who came out help transform the park from version 1.0 to version 2.0. All told, we weeded the entire park, built walking paths, organized planting beds, and planted 300-plus plantlings of at least 10 different types. We're happy to report the success of this vacant-lot transformation initiative, which is now entering year two. Want to help? ... e-mail us at info@friendsoftrianglepark.org.

If you weren't able to make it to the Friends of Triangle Park 2009 Fall Fundraiser, you can still make contribution to the park via PayPal or a major credit card by clicking on the "DONATE" link below. As always, we very much appreciate your continued support.
The green space that the Friends of Triangle Park are working to develop is located at the intersection of Christian Street, 6th Street, and Passyunk Avenue on the border of the Bella Vista and Queen Village neighborhoods in Philadelphia, PA.
This land is NOT an official city park. It is privately owned. It is our mission to facilitate the acquisition of the land by the City of Philadelphia so that it can become a park. We need your support to make this happen, so GET INVOLVED!
Our group of supporters have worked very hard over the last year and a half to turn the triangular lot into place where flowers and trees now prosper, but our efforts are just beginning. We need your help to tell your friends, neighbors, and local officials that you do not want this space to return to a vacant trash strewn lot, and you want the space to be aquired by the city.
